To Evolve. To Rebel.

Something Stupid

I practice everyday to find some clever lines to say to make the meaning come true.
And then I think I'll wait until the evening gets late and I'm alone with you.

It's so easy to say I Love You. Is it always as magical as when it is said by the Sinatras?

The Dress

Don't let the dress trick you,
I love you less now that I know you.

I love love love this song. I meet the band when they were opening for Interpol and suddenly my love for Interpol was replaced by love for Blonde Redhead (not all, though :P ).
I think the song is about an abusive relationship, but who knows. It just feels so right.

I advise you to watch the oficial music video directed by Mike Mills, here. It's.. different.

Don and Sherri

How can I let you forget me
If you don't even know me already?

Sometimes. It is that simple.
Let it grow on you.

Crystalized

You don't move slow
In taking steps in my direction
The sound resounds, echo
Does it lessen your affection?
No

Meet my new musical love.
"dark sexiness" i read someone referring to this song. I agree.
I think I melt every time they say the final "Go Slow"s. I also like the fact that near the end they both sing at the same time different lyrics. It's.. stimulating.
ah-i-ah-i-ah.

I'd rather dance with you

Get into the swing
Get into the swing
Get into the swing
Get into the swing
Get into the swing
Get into the swing

The kings of lo-fi are the Kings of Convenience. As Feist says: they're the duo of the century.

Is it possible not to fall in love with this song? It's so simple and sincere. "Just shut up and dance with me!" And even if, sometimes, you feel that the intellectual side should win over the hips, this song proves you wrong - And you know it.

By Your Side

I'll scrub your floor
Never be a bore
I'll tuck you in
I do not snore
I'd wear your black eyes
Bake you apple pies
I don't ask why
And I'll try not to cry

I will never find anything as strange and magical as Cocorosie. The most unlikely voices make one hell of a duo. I saw them live and it was the best gig I saw in my entire life. Really. They even have a guy beatboxing which tours with them and does all the would-be electronic. Magical. Weird. Lovely.

Dream On

What you take wont kill you
But careful what you're given

I do believe in Karma. If you listen to the lyrics of this song, you'll notice Dave is talking about it. It's such a desperate feeling, such a hopeless cry. "Dream on, dream on.." It doesn't matter what you do, you've already lost.

Paradise (Not For Me)

I can't remember
When I was young
I can't explain
If it was wrong

(...)

I was so blind
I could not see
Your paradise
Is not for me

I can honestly say I like the Madonna shows more than I like her songs.
Why is it so not cool for "alternative" audiences to love Madonna? I do.

The Pleasure Is All Mine

The pleasure is all mine
To finally let go
And defend me
We float

I imagine this song being about an orgasm. A selfish, slow and amazing one. The kind you don't share and keep secret about. Are you not proud?
There's an acoustical version of this song that sounds even better (sadly, it's not on youtube). Go Bjork!

In the Pines

Well I asked the captain
For the time of day
He said he
Threw his watch away

(He used to be known as "Smog", now he's just Bill. And if you don't already own "A River Ain't To Much Too Love" stop what you're doing and go get it. Now. I'm serious, go! )

Without You I'm Nothing

I'm unclean, a libertine
And every time you vent your spleen
I seem to lose the power of speech,
Your slipping slowly from my reach.
You grow me like an evergreen,
You've never see the lonely me at all.

Back in the days when Molko was still an angry little girl. I'll always be a fan. (oh, and hello Bowie!)
This chorus has been my all-time favorite for such a long time.. I've used the line "I'm unclean, a libertine" more times than I should've. Oh well.. Tick, Tick Tack.

Professional Distortion

I'm in the loop, I am the loop.

(not live, but still cool. Old Kittin was way cooler than now)

Old Weapons

And if you can't dance to this you can't do nothing for me baby.
